Job Description:

Hire Virtue is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Welder to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of natural gas pipeline systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the structural integrity and safety of pipeline infrastructure through high-quality welding practices performed in both field and shop environments.

The ideal candidate has pipeline welding experience, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to produce quality work that meets industry standards and ASME certification requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform welding operations for the installation, maintenance, and repair of natural gas pipelines.
  • Operate welding equipment, torches, power supplies, and related tools to safely fuse metal components.
  • Perform arc welding by establishing and maintaining proper electrical circuits.
  • Assist with pipeline construction, repair, integrity maintenance, and emergency response activities.
  • Work effectively in both field and fabrication shop environments.
  • Successfully complete pipe welding tests required by gas utility companies in accordance with ASME certification requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with all company safety policies, industry regulations, and quality standards.
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure workmanship meets required specifications.
  • Collaborate with field crews, supervisors, and inspectors to complete projects safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • OQ (Operator Qualification) certification for pipeline welding preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of pipeline or industrial welding experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass client-required pipe welding qualification tests.
  • Strong knowledge of pipeline welding techniques, welding procedures, and applicable industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond effectively during emergency situations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work extended hours, including days, nights, weekends, and overtime as project needs require.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and work in physically demanding environments.
  • Ability to climb extension ladders and work at varying heights.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites, typically within a four-hour radius of the assigned home office.
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and around noise, vibration, heavy equipment, and other construction-related hazards.
